Who We Are
Sustainable Golden is an organization that strives for Golden, Colorado, to become an example sustainable city that other cities can follow. We support the City of Golden in meeting its sustainability goals and providing access to affordable, sustainable living alternatives for Golden’s residents, businesses and visitors.
Our Goals
The city of Golden created a Citizen’s Sustainability Advisory Board back in 2007. Since its creation,
much has been accomplished, but much remains to be done. The founders of Sustainable Golden recognize that we must act if the city is to achieve its crucial sustainability goals. To accelerate our progress,
we aim to harness the energy and expertise of its citizens in three specific ways:
Research & Analysis
The City has limited capacity to do the serious analysis associated with designing effective policy solutions. Our organization helps gather data and feedback from the residents.
Education & Outreach
Residents and businesses in Golden often lack the information they need to reduce their energy and water usage, and to reduce the amount of waste they send to the landfill.
Advocacy
The City Council has repeatedly said that it will move further and faster if citizens speak loudly, articulately, and with a clear voice to urge more determined action.
